Benslow Music is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Duffy as its new Chief Executive. He succeeds Dr Peter Collyer, who stood down earlier this year. Michael will assume his responsibilities on 3rd January, 2024.
Speaking on his appointment Michael Duffy said, “I’m delighted to be joining Benslow Music as Chief Executive. The organisation has a fantastic heritage of nurturing life-long relationships with music, and demonstrating the value that music can bring to society. I’m looking forward to working with everyone to build the future for the organisation as it reaches its centenary in 2029 and beyond. We want to ensure that Benslow remains a bright, innovative and accessible hub of creativity in our community and more widely.”
Michael Duffy has spent more than a decade working with classical and contemporary music organisations including Spitalfields Music, Mahogany Opera Group and the London Sinfonietta. Most recently he was Head of Programming for Cheltenham Music Festival, one of the UK’s oldest and highly regarded classical music festivals. His experience includes projects in talent development, audience development and creative programming, as well as building international creative partnerships for the British Council. He is an active champion of diversity and inclusion and was named in shesaid.so’s 2019 Alternative Power 100 List of individuals working to support gender equality in the music industry. Michael studied Music at the University of Oxford.
