What is the course about?

Singing in a small group is one of the great pleasures of a singer’s life and this day is designed to give you the chance to do exactly that. We will explore repertoire from Tallis and Byrd to the present century with a visit to some European countries thrown in. Sight-reading ability and some experience of small group singing is obviously an advantage though not obligatory. The atmosphere will be one of encouragement and support for those who may be new to this sort of singing. If numbers allow, we may form several groups of different sizes – whatever members feel most comfortable with and depending on the experience of participants.

David Ireson has long experience of leading singers in everything from consorts to opera choruses. If you would like to suggest favourite pieces for study during the day these will be considered if we can get sufficient copies.

What will we cover?

We will explore a wide variety of repertoire from Tallis and Byrd to the present century with a visit to some European countries thrown in.

What will we accomplish? By the end of this course you will be able to…
