What is the course about?
Jenny will lead the course in such a way as to encourage cellists to gain confidence in performing in front of the other members of the course. We will explore technical issues together with appropriate exercises and we will practise strategies and techniques of performance with an accompanist. The atmosphere of the course will be one of support and encouragement. It will be a great opportunity to spend more time on the demands of solo performing, how to prepare for exams and how to manage the psychology of performing.

What will we accomplish? By the end of this course you will be able to…
Have more confidence in performing with piano accompaniment. Know how to prepare physically and psychologically.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
Approximately Grade 3-8 level. The only real skills required is a little courage and the desire to learn.
How will the course be taught, and will any preparation be required?
We will work as a group with technical warm up sessions in the morning. The other sessions will be together as a group with tutoring given by Jenny who will also invite supportive and constructive feedback from the other participants. Please prepare 1-3 pieces to a level to play through in front of the other participants.
Will music be provided in advance of the course?
No. Please could you let Jenny know 3 weeks in advance of the course which pieces you would like to work on.
Is there anything I need to bring?
Just yourself, your instrument and your music!
