 This concert is part of our our afternoon concert series and features the Flutes in Tuscany winner, Lalleh Memar, and Aaron Burrows who will accompany on the piano.

Lalleh Memar is a classical flautist from Sydney, Australia. She is currently completing a Bachelor of Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under a scholarship awarded by the RCS Trust, studying flute with Katherine Bryan, Andre Cebrian and Ruth Morley and piccolo with Janet Richardson and Luke Russell.

Lalleh began her music studies as a flute/piano double major student at the Conservatorium High School, a specialist music school in Sydney. Since then, she has performed as a soloist in Sydney’s major concert venues such as the Sydney Opera House concert hall, the Verbrugghen Hall, NSW Government House and the Sydney Conservatorium Recital Halls. 

During her studies at the RCS, Lalleh successfully auditioned for and received all three professional orchestra scheme programmes, rehearsing and performing with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.  Alongside these programs, Lalleh is also a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland, Chineke! Junior Orchestra and Amadeus Orchestra.

In 2023, Lalleh was a finalist in the RCS Woodwind Governors Recital Competition. She was a featured soloist in the Festival of Instrumental Music Sydney Opera House Concert series 2018 and 2019. In 2019, she was a finalist in the prestigious Australian Flute Festival International Flute Young Artist Competition. Lalleh has received her Australian Board of Music (AMEB) Cmus Piano and AmusA Flute diplomas in 2017 and 2018 respectively.

Lalleh also regularly rehearses and performs with her flute duo ensemble, Sonora Duo, and most recently performed a chamber music recital in February as part of the Wellington Concert Series in Glasgow. 

 

Pianist Aaron Burrows, graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he was an Artist Fellow 2015-2016, has performed in venues such as Wigmore Hall, the Barbican Hall, and LSO St Luke’s. Alongside a performing career, Aaron teaches musicianship and theory at the Centre for Young Musicians (Waterloo) and piano at Latymer School (Edmonton) where he is also staff accompanist. He worked previously as a staff accompanist at Wells Cathedral School, one of four specialist music schools in the UK. He is the accompanist on the Flutes in Tuscany summer course.

As a composer, Aaron has collaborated with renowned pedagogue Penelope Roskell, writing the original music for her three-volume series “Essential Piano Technique” which was published by Peters Edition in 2023. The series won Educational Publication of the Year at the Presto Music Awards 2023. Two further volumes are due to be published in 2025.
