Biographies
Alfie Weinberg - Violin: Alfie is from Birmingham and began his violin studies at age 3, studying the Suzuki Method. He joined the Young Strings Project at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire before going onto study at Chethams' School of Music. Alfie has previously been a member of the National Children's Orchestra and the CBSO Youth Orchestra, and outside of RAM is a member of the Albion Orchestra, a London based orchestra made up of students from the country’s top conservatories. Alfie now studies at The Royal Academy of Music with Joshua Fisher, and plays with the KRIUS Quartet. He also regularly attends the J&A Beares Chamber Music Project due to his love of ensemble playing. Alfie also enjoys playing piano, composing and jazz violin. Alfie plays on a Paul Bailly 1900 violin kindly loaned by the Benslow Instrument Loan Scheme.
Louis Solon - Violin: Originally from London, he moved to Devon and was awarded a music scholarship at Exeter School. Louis moved to the Purcell School for Sixth Form where he studied the violin with Joo-Yeon Sir and chamber music with William Fong and Richard Jenkinson. He was a section principal in the Symphony Orchestra and is now a student in the class of Joshua Fisher at the Royal Academy of Music. Louis plays on a Jai Hyde 2017.
Yixuan Kassia Ren - Viola: Kassia is a Chinese violinist born in 2003, began playing the violin at age four. She picked up the viola for numerous of chamber and orchestra projects when she was studying at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester, U.K. 2018-2023. Currently, she is an undergraduate with a full international scholarship as a Joan Weller Scholer at the Royal College of Music in London, with violin as principal study with Radu Blidar and viola as second study with Jonathan Barritt. Kassia currently plays on a Paul Collins 2008 viola on loan from Royal College of Music.
Frederick Carter - Cello: Frederick has been surrounded by music in his family and around him all his life and picked up the cello studying the Suzuki method, playing in both large and small ensembles. Since then, Frederick has played in the National Children's Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra and is now a student at the Royal Academy of Music studying with Christoph Richter. Frederick plays with the KRIUS Quartet made up of Royal Academy of Music students and looks forward to exploring a wide variety of music from baroque to Scottish reels. Frederick plays on a Sylvestre Maucotel kindly loaned by the Benslow Instrument Loan Scheme.
