We are delighted to welcome back Da Camera to lead this popular course for pre-formed groups (Grade 6 and above please). Every session will be different with an exciting new piece, and new groups will be formed for a couple of the sessions during the course to provide variety and camaraderie. Instruments welcomed are: recorder, oboe, flute, violin, treble viol, viola da gamba, cello, bassoon, harpsichord. Each group will be proactively coached by every tutor during the course on works students may bring themselves, as well as music provided by the tutors. Technical and musical aspects will be looked at in works by composers such as Telemann, Schickhardt, Loeillet, Scarlatti, Sammartini, Bach, Purcell and others. We will be playing at A=415 and the course fee includes entry to Da Camera’s concert on the first evening.

What previous participants say (2018):

High level baroque chamber music course for experience players who already have a good grasp of the fundamentals of baroque practice and who are either already proficient on baroque instruments or who are at a more or less professional technical level on a modern instrument and have the flexibility to learn baroque technique. The course is aimed very much at pre-formed groups who have had the chance to rehearse some of their repertoire in advance.

Well tutored in a friendly environment.

Great opportunity to be coached as a group on pre-prepared work. It is also very interesting to work with tutors on a work which is not pre-prepared; a joint exercise in interpretation and discovery.

You need a good standard of competence on your instrument(s) but the tutors can teach any level that is able to play Trio Sonatas. I thought the tutoring was excellent for all my instruments.
