Ensemble DeNOTE return to Benslow Music to explore chamber music of the classical and very early romantic eras in depth on modern or historical instruments, from the specialist perspective of historically-informed performance. DeNOTE will be bringing some period instruments along for you to try during the course. We’re looking for both individuals and preformed groups to tackle chamber repertoire for strings, winds and keyboard, including movements from Beethoven’s Septet Op 20 and Quintet Op 16, and Mozart’s Gran' Partita K361 and the Kegelstatt Trio K498. You'll need to be Grade 7 standard (or above) with reliable sight-reading abilities and solid ensemble confidence to get the most out of this course. During the course you’ll explore one familiar and one not-so-familiar work, and we hope you’ll also bring along something you would like to work on in greater depth with one of our tutors. DeNOTE employs a variety of teaching styles focusing on interpretive and technical issues, rehearsal techniques, personal and ensemble preparation helping you to cope with the performance situation. In addition to the ensemble sessions, there will be opportunities for individual tuition on strings, winds and keyboard. We are looking for violins, violas, cellos, woodwinds (including French horns), and pianists. Modern (A=440 pitch) and period (A=430 pitch) players equally welcome!
