undefinedOnline Flutes 2

Our first online course with flautist Liz Walker was a success! Here are some of the comments we have received from the 9 participants who took part:

"The next best thing to being at Benslow Music in person"

"A unique way to explore music through technological connectivity. A mix of group activities, warm ups, analysis and individual lessons with an inspirational tutor. A chance to perform too.”

It was truly an international course with new participants from as far as the USA and Australia. The Zoom technology we used to host the course is very easy to use and everyone (including me!) quickly picked this up so don't worry if you are not particularly confident with technology - many thanks to Liz's brother James Stanbridge for his help with this.

We begin all our online courses with a Meet and Greet session to allow you to get used to the technology and to meet other course members. I feel it is important that we maintain some element of the social Benslow feel in our online offerings, as demonstrated by another participant:

"It was like having a group of new friends, and I was sorry to leave them. When we were together as a group, as for the morning sessions on Monday-Thursday, you could see the other players and the tutor could unmute individuals so that they could speak (or their dog could!) and this social aspect was a bonus to the amount we learnt about the Fantasias and how they might be played, and baroque style generally."

We're adding new online courses each week so do keep an eye on our website for updates. I'm currently in discussions with Nic Fallowfield and Jenny Curtis about presenting online violin and cello courses, but there are lots of other ideas and discussions floating around at the moment. Watch this space! Thank you for your patience and support whilst we adapt and plan online courses.
